Allan Lengel

Allan Lengel has covered local and federal law enforcement news for more than two decades for publications including the Detroit News and the Washington Post. At the Detroit News, he led the paper’s ground breaking coverage of the Oklahoma Bombing. At the Washington Post, he was one of the lead reporters on the Chandra Levy story. Additionally, Lengel led coverage and broke stories on the anthrax investigation and the public corruption probe of Congressman William J. Jefferson. He also broke stories on the Sept. 11, 2001 attack and the sniper shootings and worked as a substitute night city editor.

Before working at the Washington Post and Detroit News, Lengel did an internship with investigative columnist Jack Anderson in Washington. He is currently editor and founder of a federal law enforcement daily news website called ticklethewire.com. He is also an adjunct journalism professor at the University of Maryland.

He received a journalism degree from Michigan State University and did a fellowship at Duke University where he studied the Koran and American policy on the Middle East.
